The Legacy of He Lu Fang: From Imperial Tribute to Modern Wellness
The story of He Lu Fang begins over 600 years ago during the Ming Dynasty. Our ancestor, Liu Shiliang, served as the Minister of the Court of Imperial Entertainments (Guanglu Siqing) under Emperor Hongwu. Tasked with sourcing the finest ingredients for the imperial family, he discovered that the wild camellia trees surrounding our ancestral village in the Lu Mountains produced an oil of unparalleled purity. He led our clan to cultivate these trees, and thus, Camellia Oil became known as the “Oil of Emperors.”
For centuries, our village—known as Panfang Longli—has preserved a sacred tradition. Every Lunar New Year, we gather to honor our shared heritage, a bond that connects generations through the ancient camellia groves that still thrive at the foot of the mountains.
In the late 1980s, our family achieved a rare milestone: all four siblings in our household graduated from prestigious universities, a feat that made local history. After decades of professional success—spanning high-speed telecommunications in Shanghai and environmental leadership in our hometown—the three brothers felt a profound calling to return to their roots.
Driven by a desire to revitalize our village and share our "Liquid Gold" with the world, my brothers established the He Lu Fang production base in our childhood home. As the sister living in the United States, I am honored to bridge this gap, bringing our family’s legacy and the purest imperial oil from the Lu Mountains directly to your table.
